Yes, I've had therapists who made me feel that way. In my case, I had complicated issues around food and body image. I really felt that I could have liked my body - even though it wasn't as thin as the media images around me suggested it should be - with help from the t. Disastrously, she seemed to agree that I should lose weight. I was devastated.

I'm sure you're not ugly. You don't have to be classically handsome to be loved.

I've had a therapist who made me feel that way also. I too had some complicated issues around food and body image. Grrrrr… that T.

I'm also sure you are not ugly and are loveable.

Possible trigger

re harsh inner critics and issues around food and body image. I do not know how to multi quote If I knew how to multi quote I would quote both posts, the OP's post as well.. please forgive my paws (and my species )

Possible trigger:

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I am quite sure you are not ugly, whatever that word even means.

Have you ever read about body dysmorphic disorder, by chance? If not, I'd advise that you do so and see if you honestly, in your heart of hearts, think you might could have it. If so, then some medications may help.

Sending you support and peace.

I’m sorry that your therapist wasn’t helpful with that. I’m sure you are not ugly and you sound like a really great and wonderful guy.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think the problem is more with your self esteem than your physical appearance. I'm sorry your therapist won't help.

I'm pleased you're leaning towards a diagnosis or treatment that might address this awful feeling.

I'd imagine that diagnosing this condition would be somewhat broad? I'm not sure, but it would for instance cross over with what people with eating orders experience...

But maybe that doesn't matter too much, as the treatment would in any case be targeting useful areas, like self esteem...

Big hugs.
