Today while I was trying to give my cat his medicine, I got angry. I took my frustration out on my cat with a can of "Stop That!" He doesn't like the sound it makes. He hissed at me. But part of me was hoping the scent it emits would calm him and make him stop running from me. It's supposed to sooth cats. It's just that the sounds is harsh. But I was angry and I didn't care if I pissed him off.

I feel so bad now for getting angry at him. I'm beating myself up. I'm calling myself all kinds of terrible names and I'm thinking he would be better off with someone else. Maybe he needs to live with someone who has a farm. Maybe he will be happier as an outdoor cat. He's always so miserable and med time is never pleasant.

I think it’s perfectly normal to get frustrated and annoyed and even angry at times. My pets drive my up the wall sometimes but I love them dearly. They know they are loved and I’m sure your cat knows it too.

Feeling bad about something like this is perfectly normal. It's OK to feel bad, and you are not bad or terrible for this, your behaviour wasn't behaviour you're happy with but that doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you human. Try chastising your behavior instead of labeling yourself as bad.

Thank you! I'm trying to console myself. My cat seems fine today. He let me pet him. He seemed happy to be around me. I guess he has forgiven me... water under the bridge. I suppose the important thing is what I decide to do now. I'll just take care of him the best way I can. Now if only I could forgive myself.
