The holidays are always tough. I have been feeling very alone and scared that I will not be able to find a suitable job. My finances are running low and as a single self-supporting female with no family.....I am truly scared. I've tried everything I can think of. If I don't find work soon I may lose my home. I woke up this a.m. with a slight anxiety attack. How do you wake up with such a feeling? I'm going to the gym to try to work through the day. I'm scared, I'm lonely.....don't know where to turn next.

I am so sorry you are going through this very hard time. I wish I was there to give you a hug.
About your job, have you tried the temp jobs? It really is
scary not knowing when you"ll have a job.

I could not find a job either, I am also a single female, although, I do have my family close by. I worked 2 yrs off
and on working as a temp. 2 jobs were temp to hire but I
had to quit. The jobs were definitely not for me. I bet you are
wondering how I had the nerve to quit with no income coming in. The great news is that I get a small pension
and I had saved enough money to get by.

I still was very depressed and yes the holidays are tough
with or without a job.I hope someone else can give you some advice as to how to get some money coming in.

God Bless and please take care. Holidays are Tough Holidays are Tough Holidays are Tough Holidays are Tough

I hope the new year has more opportunities for you. Maybe the holiday couple months didn't offer as much as will be available "next year".

A couple places I would apply that I don't know if you've thought of are universities and counties, especially the library systems. Library clerks don't make much but they make "enough" and there are all sorts of jobs for counties and universities, they're like small countries of their own :-) Schools are great because they give one something to "talk about" in the interview, one can always say one is interested in further schooling, etc. and it sounds good and makes you look like you have a direction in life, etc.

Temp agencies are great for reception and admin as there are always ppl going on hiatus or maternity leave or this that and the other. Also, there are places that assist you in finding a job, they help with resumes and have job lists and etc etc...look in phone book under employment. I dunno if it applies to you or if you haven't worked in a while, unemployment benefits might be an option?? I wish you luck and peace for the anxiety it only makes a tough situation worse. I'm so sorry you're going through this. The Holidays are very tough on top of everything that you're going through. The suggestion of trying a temp agency is a very good one. I'm sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. 2008 has got to turn around for you.

God Bless

You've tried everything you can think of..... so now give yourself a break. Keep doing what you can to be in the right place at the right time and trust things to work out.

What is it they say about luck.... when opportunity meets preparedness. Be ready for anything and believe in everything.

Given the choice between worry and hope why would we let ourselves bother to worry. Be hopeful and excited all the possibilities. Now is the time to let your dreams out of the bag. Expand your thinking to expand your options.

See your assets not your deficits. Find the next job that matches your needs and wants. It's a new beginning.

I know some of what you are feeling. I left a very good job due to my illness and now consult part time to make ends meet. It's very unstable and it requires me to walk in faith a lot of the time. Whenever I wraping up a contract I'm resisting the temptation to worry about where the next contract will come from. I've learned not to worry but to trust the next step to be clear in time for me to take it. I still manage to pay my bills. I hope to get my finances in better shape again some day soon but for now I trust I'm going ot somehow always have the means to pay my bills.

Hope your next step is clear to you soon.

So sorry you are dealing with all this right now. The holidays are difficult for so many people. I struggle with them too, and finances are a daily challenge. I hope things get better for you soon.

Hey Nowhere.. I, too, am looking for work. My seasonal job just ended and i am hitting up all the temp agencies. I believe we can do this (((((EVERYwhere to turn)))))))))))).
hit the stop button on the panic and believe in me believing in you (us) that we are employed within this first week of the new year. we can DO this! Like chocolate lover said, you've done all you can, now sit back and let the benefits come to you. Know that this is possible, and i will know it for you when you can't.
Sincerely, Kiya

So what's your stretegy for getting that job? Is it time to do the rounds again with your resume? Is it time to reconnect with your network or contacts? Is it time to practice your interview skills? Is it time to upgrade your employability skills or your knowledge? What can you do now, this minute to prepare the way to employment? What can you do to be the healtiest and most prepared employee ever? Focus on that which is in your circle of influence and control. Don't worry yourself or depress yourself with those things you can not influence and control. It will eat you up. Focus on what you can do and it will feed your confidence and give you new hope.

Wishing you good fortune and health. May a spirit of thanks for what you've overcome fill you with hope for new promises yet to come.
