I seen the eye doctor and after 2 hours of tests they found that I have nerve damage in my right eye and that there is nothing that can be done. So now I have 20/15 vision in the left eye and 20/25 in the right eye. It is not an easy thing to live with, but I guess I have to. In addition to that, I have seen the therapist (female) and she was very nice and friendly. She kept saying how this is my second chance at life since when she seen the pictures and the story about my accident I was very lucky to be alive and that very few should have survived such an accident. She put me on lexapro and ambien for sleep, which I only take when needed. Lucky for me it is all free. The county is paying for it. She is going to set me up for weekly meetings to work on my issues. I'm finally going to get some help and encouragement. Now, I wish my parents would get the help that they need.

I'm glad you're getting good help and finding out what's what. It might take time for parents to come around :-) It can be hard the more you know and experience, sifting through all that and trying to make good decisions for yourself and family.

Hi Aries ...

I'm very glad you're going to get the help you need and that your attitude about your eye problem is so good. Whenever I've been hit with something difficult, I always ask myself just 2 questions. Will I deal with it ... or won't I. Can I do it ... or can't I. You get the idea. You said, "It is not an easy thing to live with, but I guess I have to." Congratulations on your positive attitude! You've already made the most difficult decision ... you've chosen to live with it and the rest is just details.

I sure hope your positive attitude will carry over to your sessions with the therapist. Just remember that you're a very strong person and are surrounded by people who support you ... your friends and "family" here on the forums!

God bless you, Aries! Your strength has made my day!

GoodMama

I had no idea I said that and that it was positive.

Update about me

I took my first dose of the lexapro and an hour after I took it I started to get really moody and kinda of angry. I did not see any side affects like that when I read about the drug. Is it something to be concerned about?

Good. Side effects are much dreaded but not mandatory. For instance, I am taking different meds since 6 years. No problem ever. With a bit of luck you will be just OK. And hopefully have the benefits of the drugs. However, don't get disappointed if the first "cocktail" will not do you good enough. Often it takes adjustments.

Be consistent and good luck!

I feel childish too. Is it the meds or my brian injury. I read that it is a post effect of my injury.
