A person betrayed me recently, talked behind my back and reported me to persons that I never should have been reported too. (Of course the persons who received the complaint had nothing to say, because there was nothing to complain about). I was able to not fall into depression, but anxiety destroyed some of my days. To do such an ugly "thing" is rotten, even if one has a mental disorder!
Let me be clear: MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO DO WRONG TO OTHER PEOPLE! If one suffers from some kind of mental illness that distorts one's thinking and can hurt other people or betray one's friends when in that condition, one has to bring it to therapy and work hard on learning how to recognize the feelings/thoughts that make one do such evil "thing"s. One has to remind oneself often that one has this tendency to behave in certain not helpful ways. Without reminders it can happen again. At least one has to apologize if one has fallen into the trap again. Such behavior can end in the consequences that one lose good friends. I'm sure that most of you have your moral in order. Still I find it appropriate to post a link about moral. We can all need to think through our ethics from time to time. Ethics - live a good life by following an ethical code A good day to everybody in the forum! ![]() |

Thank you so much for your hug, Yaowen! It warmed my heart.
I want to say that I have NOT posted the "Moral and Ethics" thread to make you feel that you are of no worth because of Mental suffering. It is rather the opposite. People who suffers from some kind of Mental illness have to see themselves as so worthy that they are worthy of developing a moral code to live after. We have many religions. Even if they are different, they all share in the same principle: "treating others as you want to be treated". Nobody want to find themselves in the position that when they have tried to be kind to a person, that person reports them to somebody higher up in the hierarchy for bad behavior ![]() Of course there are different kinds of Mental Disorders. A person that suffer from Paranoia may more easily misunderstand because that is the nature of the Paranoia. A person which suffer form Borderline personality disorder often have problems with not being able to see "the white" as long as they see the world in "black". Even depressed people can construe the world in black and white during parts of their illness. Let me put it another way: I have some friends that are members of 'Alcoholics Anonymous'. When they recover, one of the first things they have to do, is to apologize to all those they have harmed. THAT is what my post about "Moral & Ethics" is about. Bring your "sick sides" into therapy and try to prevent harming others when you are more sick than usual. If you are so sick that you don't understand that you are harming another person, at least do as those in AA, apologize afterward. We all make mistakes from time to time (as sick or not sick). So it is to be human. Nobody should blame themselves for past mistakes. Past is past! Respect yourself so much that you allow yourself to try to take care of your moral system as best you can even in sickness! That goes for all of us, no matter the diagnose. I wish all of you well! A good day to everybody in the forum! ![]() |
