Is it possible to still be struggling with pandemic depression a year in now? Like some of my most basic tasks at work feel absolutely Herculean still. I figured it would go away as some good news like vaccines being rolled out came about, but I’m really struggling with my most mundane jobs at work. I think part of trouble is because they just feel mundane and uninteresting. Mostly, and I’m being completely honest here, I spend my days trying not to get caught fiddling around on the internet. I am able to get task done that really matter, that I could get in real trouble over but most everything else is piling up. It all feels so pointless and like a waste of my life

Absolutely. I think the longer it goes on, the harder it gets. Even though the vaccines are good news, if you are one of the people who haven't had theirs yet and are still waiting, then it seems never ending. Plus there's talk of life not getting back to normal for the foreseeable, even with the vaccination program, that we'll be stuck with masks and social distancing for a long time to come. No wonder people are finding it difficult to keep going. __________________ To the world you might be just one person; but to one person you might be the world. |

We are meaning-seeking, meaning-creating creatures. What would feel less pointless? As you can guess, I also turn these questions inward. __________________ My dog mastered the "fetch" command. He would communicate he wanted something, and I would fetch it. |

Of course it's possible. Not only possible - likely. Had the pandemic been only a few months long, it would have been a blip on our screens. But this? A year and our lives turned upside-down? You betcha.
The vaccine certainly offers tremendous hope, but I've experienced something interesting with that. I received my 1st vax and had the feeling, as I left the clinic, Wow! This is finally over! By the time I came home I realized that even with the vaccine, covid is not over. We still have a ways to go, and yes...it's potentially depressing, for sure. __________________ |

In a strange way I miss the first couple months before things really went well t—s up 🙂it was actually kind of peaceful for me personally since I was all alone at work and able to take 3 day weekends every weekend for a couple months.
