Hi. I'm having a hard time collecting my thoughts. Today is only my 2nd doctor's appt and I was really looking forward to it and now I can't go! Boyfriend's car is in the shop, my only friend in town has other things to do, and I just can't ride the bus. I don't know how! I'm such a loser. I'm totally useless. I talked to a nurse at the Dr's office and I have no idea what's going on. I can't even think straight. Ugh. Things were going pretty well, and then I get set back again and I just fall apart. Why can't I just deal with %#@&#!. Why can't I just ride the bus or learn to drive a car like everyone else. Why do things have to be so hard.

Prairie Dawn,

Good for you -- for getting yourself into therapy. That is a huge step! I'm sorry transportation came between you and your second appointment. Take a deep breath. Everything will be all right.

You're not a loser. You are just facing some significant obstacles at this point. Don't lose heart. Yes, this was a setback, but it is not permanent.

Feel free to PM me.

I can imagine how much going to Dr.s appt meant to you. The first few visits are so important for both you and the Dr. To have these stumbling blocks thrown at you without warning sent you into a tail spin. But you are not totally useless. So many obstacles!

I have daughter in law living in the DC are who will not ride the train or bus (2 most used modes of transportation). She actually shops only at places within walking distance of their apartment. So many obstacles!

As difficult as it may be at this moment breathe deeply in and out until calm has settled in. Then approach your problem as an opportunity waiting to be challenged.

Have you ever heard that old saying "there's more than one way to skin a cat" (for all you cat lovers that is not something I would even consider). Basically the saying means there is more than one way to solve a problem. It might take some work and not be obvious but it can be done.

Be kind to yourself. You are not useless.
We are here when you need us.

Thanks so much for all the kind words, I'm feeling a little more calm now.

I talked to some nurse earlier, who said the Dr would be in touch with me soon, but it's way after my appt and no one has contacted me. I don't want to be a pest but I really need to get this taken care of, I can't keep living like this. I think I will try calling again, anyway. This Dr is supposed to be good, but I feel like I've been abandoned already. I mean, right now I should be at that appt, so what could he possibly be doing that is keeping him from getting ahold of me???

He may just not be able to call because of his patient schedule. He might call say around 5-7 after seeing his last patient. I know that's what happens when I try to reach my pdoc.

Hope he calls you soon. So many obstacles!

That's what I'm hoping, but I can't help feeling like I did something wrong, or I've been forgotten. I try to put it in perspective and I feel more calm, but then I just think "what if...?" and I can't stop crying. Thank you for listening.

Prairie Dawn,

Isn't it nice to have friends.

Now, if only, one of us lived close enough to swing by with a car, and wisk you off to your appointment, which probably has been cancelled by now.

Hang in there with the rest of your friends at PC.

I'm guessing there isn't a taxi service or something like that?

I'm sorry you missed your appt. I hope the doc gets back to you soon.
