Hi citlali, welcome! You can check out DocJohn's area of information (see disorders tab above?) That will help you figure out where you are on the sadness scale.

Your medical doctor is a good place to begin. Sometimes it's a medical problem that is causing symptoms, and it's always a good thing to make sure there are none before beginning any therapy.

Your MD can give you a referral to a psychologist. I am biased and would begin there. IF the psychologist finds you might also need medication and your MD hasn't done this yet, then the T will refer you to your MD or a psychiatrist. BUT the T won't quit therapy with you, it will be congruent.

Come back and post often, especially for support! It's a great place to be when you need help.

There is also an onsite depression quiz as well which may help you.

Citlali:

All of the above assumes that you have medical insurance, either on your own or through someone else. If there is any question about your having that insurance, then you would need to look to community resources. SHAKES or some other person who is knowledgeable in that area can help you find those resources.
