My daughter (16) just told me she thinks she's going to break up with her boyfriend of almost a year. Instead of holding her, talking to her about it, sitting with her, I simply said, "I figured you were going to," and walked out. I walked out. I f****** walked out on my baby. Why? Because I can't handle my own breakup issues let alone hers!!!! This is so not the mother I ever wanted to be. On top of everything else there is now this that I can't handle. I hate screwing up.

Never mind. I wiped away my own tears and talked to her.
