I can't call it depression, but I"m just really, really sad. Today was my last day at my job. It's going to be so weird to wake up tomorrow and not go there, and not see all these people I've come to love and who have been such good friends to me. I know I'm doing the best thing for my career, but it certainly isn't the best thing for my heart. OK, where do you post if you're just sad?

I need to go do laundry so I don't look like a pig tomorrow for my first day at the new place, but all I can do is sit here and cry :_(.

Change sucks, you know? OK, where do you post if you're just sad?

Candy

(((((candy))))) I feel that way EVERY year. At the end of the school year I'm always sad and I haven't even had my own class for a year yet.

Change is part of life...so they say. But it stinks. All I can tell you is it'll get easier. You will make new friends at your new job. Plus, you can always keep in touch with your old friends.

Good luck tomorrow!

Sorry Candy,

I don't like change much either. OK, where do you post if you're just sad?

I hope you feel better when you start.

Hey Candy,

Sorry to hear you're leaving your friends behind. I've been thru that and know what it feels like. But like 1day said, you've got the chance to make all new friends, new challenges, become President of the company...One too many huh?

You're a smart bear and you'll do just fine! Yeah, change can suck, but it's a necessary part of life. I hope you do great!

Greg

Thanks Greg, but I'm afraid I'm NOT smarter than the average bear, in this case. What an overwhelming day. So many things thrown at me at once, from meeting city officials to trying to learn the computer system, even to figuring out what the hell is mine (they switched my desk 4 times). Plus it's a million miles from where I live, though the community I'll be covering is just down the road from where I live.

You can't believe the incredible amount of work I'm going to have to generate. Basically, I have my own newspaper. I'm responsible for filling it. I'm used to having assignments handed to me, and that doesn't fly at this place.

I dunno. I'm not as hot as Brenda Starr and not as intrepid as Lois Lane, so I'm severely doubting if I made the right move.

<sigh> thanks for the pep talk, anyway!

Wow, cb, big changes fer sher. All I can say is stay tuned in to your self as much as you can. Sometimes it's a good thing, and sometimes it's too much. Sometimes both. In the end, it won't matter how Brenda Starr and Lois Lane might have done, but only how it suits you. Seems like I used to hear a joke I can't quite remember anymore about rising to one's level of incompetence.

Sometimes I've taken on challenges because of an inner drive that would not otherwise be satisfied, and at other times I was only driven by a whip of past programming and expectation.

All just to say good luck, and congratulations and sympathies too I guess.

WOW those are big changes.... wishing you strength and wisdom on performing the task ahead. That you've had assignments gives you a good idea of what kind of stories you need to print. Now, every place you go, you'll be observing and writing down notes for future: this will make a good story... I hope it doesn't become overwhelming for you...
