Why is it that we're depressed... why has this leech infected us? That's what it is... depression... it's a parasite that grabs a hold of you and sucks the life, hope and dreams from you.

But why us? What have we done to deserve this?

maybe we have committed some sin in our lives..that's why God is harsh on us...i always ask this question daily. we need to do some soul-searching about our behavior and actions

There is no one who has not sinned. Depression is an illness just like congestive heart failure or diabetes or arthritis or mucsular dystrophy ( the last two of which I have). It just so happens that society has decided to stick the body system it effects in front of it: Mental illness. You don't hear cardiac illness, or endocrine illness. Depression and all the lovely things that go with it is a chemical imbalance. That's why people feel better with medication, that's why people feel better when they do things that stimulate the body to create those chemicals naturally. Why us? Why do we get the chemical imbalance and not the next person? We are strong though it doesn't feel like. We have talents that need explored. We have gifts not yet given. We have love not shared. There is no rhyme or reason to sickness, illness or disease. At least not on earth.

I agree with cantstopcrying, I think it's like asking why some get diabetes, it's an illness it's hard to explain why one gets it and the next does not. Both diabetes and depression are chemical imbalances, not punishment for our past deeds.

Like my Mother used to say Silver Moon...

"Just because Lenny..just because."

It didn't make me Happy then and it does little better now...

I have studied Chaos theory and statistics and though each science has it's own bedrock,,,sometimes there are questions that beg the answer my Mother gave...

But it is not the "Why?" that will set you free...it is the "What now?"

IMHO.

Thanks everyone... I should apologise 'cause I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Had tough day today and it still isn't over. Got triggered a lot today, many times about J... been feeling really lonely and just generally awful... to top it off my brother has come home and he's told us that it's very likely he'll be made redundant (and be out by Friday with only 1 week pay) because his company is struggling because of the credit crunch... so that's putting pressure on the family now too.
Nothing wants to go right today... wonder what will be next, it's only 6pm

(((((((((((((( silver_moon )))))))))))))))) Don't apologize, I don't consider it feeling sorry for yourself. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now, I can see why you are upset.

Didn't you know this is a no apology zone? It's how you and feel. When I have a lot going on and I so-call complain and need some help, you feel sorry for what I'm going through so what's wrong with you feeling sorry for what you are going through? Feeling sorry for ourselves gets a bad name. If you can feel sorry for others, than it holds true that if you are to love yourself you can feel sorry for yourself. Wallowing in self pity is different, I think, than feeling sorry for yourself. What's important is that you realize you have a lot of things going on and can take steps to ease the ones you can. You may not be able to do a darn thing about them, like with your brother, except offer love and support...and you rock at doing that! And that's enough. Move to the next one on your list. You are such a sweetheart; give yourself the same break you give others.
