Guess what? There is hope after all. I never thought I would see the day. For six years I have been chronically depressed and chronically unhappy. I have been on Effexor for three of those years. I haven't been able to punch through the ceiling that was over me, that kept me pinned underneath all these years. Then two weeks ago, my psychiatrist says "I think we will try Wellbutrin" and I said, "OK, why not. At this point I will try anything." Thing is, she didn't switch me off Effexor, which I thought was interesting. Anyways, after only two days I was seeing the light. It's now been two weeks and I must say I'm feeling a little shaky, not 100% but how can I expect that after six years of no life. My self confidence and self esteem need rebuilding. I get feelings of fear because I don't feel strong yet. And my emotional strength needs rebuilding too. I just haven't had the energy. Yesterday I felt nauseated and afraid. I had to go to sleep for a couple hours at 4 pm. Today I feel better. It will be interesting to see if this renewed sense of my original self holds out.

Wellbutrin worked for me too. I was able to start enjoying some things again, like listening to music. I was able to take better care of myself. Took daily work but even small steps make a difference.
Good luck on your journey. ![]()

I'm on effexor and wellbutrin also. though i haven't been on the wellbutrin long - a couple months i'm hoping they'll increase the dose and i'll start feeling better too. I'm glad this combination worked for you.
