I have suffered from major depression most of my life, since at least 14 and I am 29 now. I have tried all the meds out there and therapy, nothing helped.
I was in a car accident a year and a half ago, I had major head trauma. Since then, even though my life got allot worse after the accident, I don't feel depressed or sad at all, and never cry. I'm mostly numb. I still have all the other symptoms of depression- no energy, sleeping A LOT, loss of interest, weight gain(sometimes total lack of apatite), hopelessness, emptiness, thinking about death ect. Is this still depression? Could have my head injury caused my change in mood? |

tomboy4life, I am very sorry about the accident that you had. It could very well be causing the numb feelings, but you should go to a doctor to see. I have numb feelings quite often, but I think it may be due to the meds I am on...if you are on antidepressants it may be causing the numb feelings. Wishing you well

i believe it would be a good thing to follow up with your doctor or pdoc about how you are feeling. i am aware of severe head trauma causing personality changes but this is IMHO, not a skilled professionals answer. it's worth checking out..particularly since you noticed the symptoms after the accident.
hopefully you will get some reliable answers. it would at least ease your worry about what is going on with you. ![]()

I agree with everyone else, this is something that you should see your doctor about, it's best to be safe than sorry.

I'm sorry you are going through so much... As everyone suggested, please check in with your physician. Any trauma to the brain can cause mood changes among other things. I had a concussion from an automobile accident nearly two ago...I developed a seizure disorder and am now on medication for it. It also took months for my mood swings to ease off. Jmo, but I think it's something you need to tell your doc... Cap
