Just a vent. no need to reply.

Husband was layed off.....merry christmas! we have no insurance, and i have a litany of issues. as does he. both are diabetic, i have asthma, and my obvious issues with mental health.

Just got paid on friday. have 2 dollars to my name till next friday. drive 40 miles a day for work. unless my car runs on electric im screwed.

Ok....im done now. and now to find myself a suitable solution.

Thanks molly,

Just needed to vent to my friends. Now i just need to come up with a resolution to the issue. Its fixable. just have to put in more man hours somewhere else.

In the meantime, im allowing myself to be aggravated and frustrated. I work hard, and this is the second month i am scraping barely.

the one good thing. bills are paid, and i have a roof over my head. im more worried about my diabetes and asthma meds than anything else. so im posting flyers about technical support stuff in hopes somebody will need help.

thanks for the hugs. you are AWESOME!

Is there any state aid that you may qualify for? The aid is designed to help people in your situation. I am sorry that you are having a hard time, I am sending you lots of hugs,

Nope. no state aid. i make too much money. so it seems all over the place. people without jobs, bad economy. i guess i am just grateful that i am working full time. (should be right now huh?) lol.

I just need to get out there and do some side jobs. like i said i cant TOTALLY complain. my bills are paid, just cant get the little things like, food, meds...lol.

at least im warm right? Im grateful for that. i just got my heat on after 2.5 years in chicago without it.

so its not totally bad. could be worse. just needed to vent.

thanks,

Colleen

you're in my thoughts and prayers.

i know how hard it is. can you pick up insurance at your job. i've been trying to live on one income for 4 years. with debts for two incomes. its not easy but it will work out. im here for you if you need to vent.

Thanks chris,

Nope the job is a contractor job. doesnt offer insurance. I will figure this out. I promise you that. Like i said i have a home with heat. I have it a lot better than most people in this economy.

The only hard thing is keeping meds and food on the table. dont worry much about anything but the diabetes meds the most. its the difference between having a kidney or NOT....i choose to keep all appendages, intestines, and other important organs

take care,

Colleen

can your husband get unemployment pay? i know it cost money but if you call your chamber of commerce they might have a health plan for self employed. i looked into it because my husband is self employed.

((( Colleen ))) I understand where you are coming from about the meds. My dad is diabetic, and his insulin is really expensive... he just recently got insurance, thank goodness. I hope you are able to find a way to get the meds you need. Best of luck to you.

Thanks MP,

trying hard to get past this. it really just is the meds thing. I can handle the rest. but i pride myself in being in GREAT self control.

Just dont want to try the work without meds thing.

But im working on it. im sure i will have a solution shortly.

Colleen, I'm sorry! Really impressed with your winning attitude! How about buying meds online from Canada or somewhere like that?

Thank you nwtr and sannah.

did the meds online thingy. no credit left on the cards....oh well...

plus - buying insulin online is not safe, if it was purchased and the pharmacist takes it out of a refridgerator it needs to stay cold or else it goes bad. if it started warm it can stay that way.

Thanks for the ideas tho!!! i have done that sannah, and it really is cheaper sometimes. just cant do it right now.

I will figure it out. finagling (sp) credit, payday loans as we speak, er type.

Contact the med company? They have a program for folks who can't afford the meds........

I'm so very sorry...

Others had some good suggestions, but I'd like to add one or two.
If your husband had insurance through work, please check the date the last premium was paid. Awhile back we were in the same situation, but was told we were covered because of that date...so we had nearly three weeks of coverage.

NeedyMeds and the patient assistance programs are good, but it may take a few days. I've had to do this myself...my physician gave us enough samples to last until we were approved. We were lucky in that our drug company had a policy of sending the meds asap after getting our physician's input. Then they went through the approval process. They wanted to make sure no one was without their drugs...

United Way pointed us to area agencies that could help us.

I know you'll figure out something...

((((((((((((((((((((((Colleen)))))))))))))))))))))))) I remember that you are good at computer problems. We had a hard drive go down the other day at work and may have to send it out to someone to recover the data. I understand that it costs a couple thousand dollars to have someone do this. Is this something you can do? You could have people ship you the computers. I have no idea what is behind being able to do this as in expensive software or not. I wish I had the expertise! I am thinking of you.
