Why is so difficult for people to understand....

I'm sitting here with
1. a new lap top (dual core or something like that), but all my programs are on my old computer.

2. brand new cell phone that if I flip it open has a key board for text messaging (I think) it keeps locking up so I've pushed the wrong button somewhere,

3. a digital audio player 2 GB built in ( what ever the h*** that means) and can hold up to 1000 songs.

Did I just arrive at Disney World or what????
Truth is TMI all at once. Try to take a frog of little brain into the 21st century......are you crazy!!!!!!

Even my youngest son's father tried to get in on the game. For some reason he can't seem to understand that getting fancy gifts does not change attitudes.

I think I'm beginning to babble.....wonder who will end up paying for all this technology. Want to bet everyone disappears when the bills start to come in.

Kebs! Give me the laptop, I promise I'll put it to good use!

I'll have the new cell phone too, I never turn it on as it is for emergencies only right?

I'll have the digital audio player, I'm sure my one and only present of 'Guns and Roses' CD will fit in it somehow!

Thank you so much, love ya!

I find the quickest way to overwhelm myself and fast track my way to anxiety is too much technology all at once. I usually only figure out how to use it and remember how to use it when it's something I need to use on a daily basis. As hard as they try, I believe the manufacturers miss the "user friendly" bus every time![/IMG]
I'm not going to tell you how to set up your lap top, etc. but I think that's what the 'Geek Squad, etc." are for. I have a cell phone like yours with the qwerty keyboard and it has a safety lock setting so that it doesn't make phone calls by itself when thrown unattended in my tote bag. You'll find a long way and and a convenient way to set that lock. And last, but not least...the music. I have an ipod shuffle that is the size of a postage stamp and clips on to my clothes when I'm working out. It holds several hundred songs, it's only 1 gig, but it's my favorite toy. I plug it in to my 'puter and download music that gets my butt in gear and out the door I go. Tech is great - but when it makes you feel nauseous and like jumping out the window, put it away and read a book.
LOL...Scooterb

PS: I can't figure out how to put an image in to a post. What does that say about me?

the way i see it is you have been given all these things so that you are meant to have less stress with the things around you,

i would pick one of them and sit with it and fiddle with it get the feel of it read any instructions you think you can handle , but keep instruction book close to hand and have a play , only one at a time as to much information at once is bad for anybodys brain

(((((((((((((((kebs )))))))))))))))) you can do this

wow, you got some neat stuff, Dear Keb!

hey, some people think these things make us feel better, so, they mean well.

I have an attitude of gratitude this year, so, I must pass that on, lol.

You are cared about, thought of, and loved.

No matter what else is happening, that is a given.

What a foundation. I'm a little jealous?

Peace and Love,
night

I will take good care of your laptop, untill you have figured how to use all of your other hightech pressies! Free of charge and everything!
But Kath is right pick one at a time, play around with it, don't be afraid to ask questions to whoever is around at that time, untill you get how it works. Then you can move on to the next thing and so on. You will do fine

Gee Angel, thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass.

If I really need a teenager I have 2 grandsons who wouldn't pass up a trip to Grandma's, especially if it means getting out of school.

Thanks for the offer Blue, but gee I'm having so much fun playing games that well, I think I'll have to pass.

Yes Kathy is right. Unfortunately the cell phone keeps singing to me and I can't figure out how to answer it without cutting off the caller. Oh well, probably just a sales call or a bill collector and I really don't want to talk to either of them.

Hey don't feel bad about the image thing. Katheryn can help you with that. And you are right about the "user friendly". I think they all skipped class the day that was taught.

Yes I'm looking forward to the mp3 player, that is what I had asked Santa for this year. I wanted something to take along when I'm walking. I think they are great.

The other two were more necessities. My old computer is trying very hard to die on me. I'm feeding it cookies and milk each day until I get all my programs transfered. Was talked into a lap top with a docking station by a very good looking salesman with a cute grin. I don't really care for the lap top but I have to be able to move back and forth between my work room and my office.

The phone was sort of a necessity too. My current phone company "the new AT&T" is driving me right up the wall. It's getting so I'm on a first name basis with the help desk guy in Taiwan. Decided I've had enough so I'm getting rid of my land line.

Guess I got a little long winded. But thanks for responding to my post. Yes there are lots of times when tech is too much, especially for the frog of little brain.

Oh my wise elder that's very true. But sometimes everything just get overwhelming at times. The day after Christmas I went to the book store to get a book on vista. If I'm going to have it I guess I better figure out how to use it.
Thanks

If you don't like Vista you can probably "just" uninstall it and load an older version of Windows. I know a few folks who have done that but I don't know all the tricks of the trade. I'm a young one who feels more at home with pen and paper than with tech stuff. Hope the lap top grows on you. The nice thing is, it should fit on your lily pad a bit easier.
