I feel so overwhelmed. I received good news about getting into school but every time I think about it I cry. And they aren't happy tears. Everyone expects me to be happy, and I feel like I would if I wasn't feeling so depressed. It just seems like too much.
It will require me to move to another state where I don't know anyone. While everyone says you have a built in social network since everyone new to the program is looking for friends, I just don't know, as I hate being placed in social situations with lots of other people I don't know. I'm scared that everyone I know will forget about me once I move. I'm scared that I will just be all alone. I know to some extent this is just my depressive thinking, but it is hard to shake the fears.

hey there, I dunno how old you are but I know what you mean about relocating, esp to school. My advice is to be active in the first month of arrival socially as much as you can. Treat orientation activities as ways of building your network it is very important.

Moving to a new state and starting a new school is a scary thing for anyone to do, so there will be many people there who are feeling the way that you do. But also keep in mind that those things that we find scary can also be quite EXCITING. It could turn out to be a wonderful time in your life.

I know how you feel! I relocated to a whole other country for university, it was the most terrifying thing I've ever done. But I've found that the scariest things we do can also be the most rewarding.

Thank you everyone for your support!

I am going to graduate school so I have already moved once for college, then after college. But this is the first time I'm really making the decision to move with the decision being made totally by me. I'm going to be leaving the first place I've ever really felt safe and I think that is a lot of my fear.

I will definitely try to connect with the other students who are coming in.
Thanks again.
