I am at the stage I always get when taking anti-deprssants. After a few days I don't want to take them. For one I get it in my head that it's (zoloft)a) going to make me bat sh--t like it did that kid who killed his grandparents. Once I get something in my head it plays over and over. Or b) It's not going to help and I'll have to go off of them and have withdrawl and all that. Then I obsess about the first until I litterally make myself sick with worry. I know it's because the zoloft I am on now is'nt at all like the zoloft I took before looks wise. It's sertraline. I don't know what the heck that is.And what if it does make me crazy. I get depressed thinkning about it . Everytime I take it I have a massive panic attack. The kind where it feels as if your hands are numb and you get sick and dizzy like your about to faint. I know it's all in my head but I hate those panic attacks. I told my doctor and he told me to take xanax but even those give me panic attacks. I started taking it about 10am then laying down for a nap for a couple of hours so I can bypass all the nausea. But then I wake up and my head is spinning. And my stomach has been cramping since I started taking it again.

Taking meds is tough. First of all, it's a pain to remember to take them every day at the same time (I can be so bad for that!) and secondly, the side-effects can REALLY suck. But I'm pretty sure that with a lot of drugs the side-effects eventually wear off as you get used to the drug. I know that taking meds is scary, but leaving your depression untreated is a pretty terrifying thought too. I don't think your doctor would have prescribed meds for you unless he thought you genuinely needed them, and he would not have given you anything that would do you any lasting harm. Still, if you're still worried, maybe you could talk to him again. Did you just tell him that you're having panic attacks, or did you tell him that your anxiety over taking the meds he prescribed causes them? You might mention that the meds are making you nauseous too, and he may be able to help you out with that. Alternatively, do you see a therapist/counsellor at all? It might be a good idea to tell them about it, and they might be able to help you pull through your anxiety at taking the meds.
Sending lots of hugs. Good luck! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sertraline is the drug name of zoloft, so it's probably generic. I'm on a generic form as well. The first month was awful!! I was going nuts, couldn't sleep, anxious as anything etc. BUT after sticking with it for several weeks, I noticed I'm feeling really good the side effects went away except my lack of appetite. At any rate, you start thinking or acting on impulses you normally wouldn't have, see your doctor right away or go to the ER if needed.
