i have muscular dystrophy,degenerative disc disorder,diabetes,high cholestoral,severe shoulder and chest pain from the falls i take,i also have arthritis, and a couple others that belong in another forum.although im not afraid to talk about them. i cant sleep sometimes for days on end i never know which disease is causing the problem of the day.to top it off my family doctor whos been my md for 35 plus years will prescribe nothing but muscle relaxers.ive been in the hospital for severe pain they give me some good stuff make me feel almost human he comes sees me takes me right off them.i see a specialist for pain gives me morphine then retires no repeats, i go see family doctor im not giving you morphine or anything close to it.i struggle each day and although i still work as a dispatcher it is very very hard to even get up to go to work.i have no patience for people on the phone or the drivers.i just dont know where to turn anymore.no one in family really understands

I see you're from Canada. Here in the States the laws have become so strict about pain killers that even primary care docs can't prescribe them. Is there any way you could get a doc to refer you to another pain clinic?
Also, you might post here in the pain forum to see what folks have to say about it. There are things such as TENS units for pain, for example. |

I'm VERY fortunate in that I have a GP who WILL prescribe opiates for pain relief. There are a few who are brave enough to do it. I'm sure he's on the DEA'S list to investigate, but he still does it.
I wish you lived in the U.S. because you WOULD get better treatment and you wouldn't have to wait so long either. ![]() Ask your doc about the TENS like Payne suggested. It certainly can't hurt. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee
