What about LDs??
I've got a couple... Short term memory problems - my encoding from short to long-term memory takes a lot of repetition to deal with! Math problems - I can't do math well at all. Numbers and I don't get along. I have problems with "recall" and organizing my thoughts. It actually helps a lot to do graphs and stuff before I write a paper because just going at it makes it hard! I can do writing where I just put a pen to paper... but my thoughts get muddled up in the mean time! I have problems writing too - especially with run-on sentences and punctuation. I'm actually on top of reading and spelling - my reading is more than adequate (even though I was delayed in Grade 1) and my spelling is apparently better than 91% of the US population!

Well, I guess just the discussion of them for people who have them...
According to my 504, I have issues with gross motor skills, and have a lack of organization skills and time management. I used to be diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder, but I guess they changed that as I got older for whatever reason... I have the same issues with sentence structure, probably because my thoughts are like either one loooong run on sentence or really short. and choppy. like this. ...And my writing is pure stream of conscious I'm okay with math, but I'm bad at memorizing things that involve numbers and/or number patterns- dates, phone number, addresses, formulas. Yeah, they just slide right off my brain unless we drill those things all of the time. I find it concerning mores o then the things actually on my 504 because between that and my complete lack of direction and occasional dissociation, I don't know how I'll be able to navigate the world once I move out ![]() My reading comprehension is apparently 99% better then the rest of the population ![]() |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyslexia It sadly or maybe a good thing comes and goes with how tired I am. But of course that leads ppl to believe its not true at times. I have worked with it forever. ![]() And sometimes my choice of words may not seem right to ppl . It just plain comes out wrong lol ((christina)))(((kaika))) do i consider it a LD thing? with my son yes..... for me some reason .....I never thought of it that way. I do know on my off days I am careful. I am lucky sometimes it only lasts while I am stressed. You both are smart ppl and kind ,. I know you will both make it in life Im older I can say that LOL |

I have
Dyscalculia (had to look that up for spelling too!) which is basically math disorder. I can't even do simple math without a calculator. Even single digits to some point I can barely add and subtract. I was tested in grade eight for my level and it was grade 4 with the use of a calculator. It leads to alot of problems with money. If i have 200 dollars to spend, I lack the ability to say "okay, 50 dollars for X, 100 dollars for Y, 20 dollars for Z, and the rest for A". I can only think of one specific thing at a time. Its very frustrating. I also supposedly have dyslexia, however with me i say compound words backwords. Things come out like Flybutter, brushtooth truckfire I also have symptoms of ADHD - however i strongly suspect thats more of an issue with my mental health problems. |

I have Nonverbal Learning Disorder, which isn't "official" yet but sure does fit. Basically, I'm good at vocabulary, spelling, speaking, rote memory, etc. but don't ask me to catch a ball, see a pattern, or do anything quickly. I even got lost on foot in my own town.

I have adhd and am horrible at math. When I was in school in the last couple of years I had to take an accounting class and barely passed it. The bulk of our grade was this big accounting packet that we had to do this big project of doing the books for a fake company and I couldn't do it but did about a weeks worth of the books and then got frustrated and threw the project at the teacher and said I can't do it. I find just the basic math problems hard but am glad I have my checkbook on the computer so it helps me manage it better. Plus my dad helps with it.
I can read and comprehend to a degree but have to read and reread a lot. Jan
