i just happen to be a 2nd. degree black belt in Shoto-Kan Karate; before and after practice we do what the Japanese call "MOKO-SO". This is done to clear our mind of the problems outside the dojo that we may be able to fully learn new kata's and movements and it's all for self defense. During practice, i often got wind of an altar with a memory trying to come forward, but i had no idea what was really happening. Thus, i would, on own, moko-so to get my bearings back and join in with the class again. i truely wish i could teach this to all of us DID's as it is an enjoyable experience which you create in your mind to find peace and quiet. mine was sitting among pines with a waterfall in the background and finding my Pa-grandad-beside me. That is my peace.

i just happen to be a 2nd. degree black belt in Shoto-Kan karate-do. Before and after each practice session, we do what the Japanese call "MOKO_SO". This is a clearing of the mind of outside stress and to prepare our whole mind-body-spirit to learn new kata's, self defense techniques, and develope our own type of KATA or series of kicks, punches, throws, and whatever you may need to defend yourself. MOKO-SO is a sound you search to hear, a place you'd like to be, or calming music that also energizes you. Sometimes, during practice, i'd find myself missing the beat or what they call "loosing time". Sonething will kick in PTSD and i find myself behind. Thus, i MOKO-SO on my own to get back into the rhythm of the rest of the class. My MOKO-SO is sitting amoung pine trees, listening for that calming sound of water running over the rocks in the creek, humming a tune my grandad taught me, and the final touch is feeling Pa's (grandad) presense beside me to give me his strength to accomplish my goal-getting that BLACK BELT! It was hard, too, as i was still having difficulties with my legs because of a car accident in 1983. But, in 1993, i reached my goal and am still practicing on my own. i feel that my friends inside all had a part in my success and i am forever greatful for them as they still remind me to this day to MOKKO-SO!
