So earlier today we had to take cores youngest son to his school to register him/do orientation and we found ourselves triggered at every turn. Authority figures(teachers, etc.) have always scared and intimidated us and we were literally surrounded today, not to mention the classroom and other things. Its a miracle he even got registered at all as we were switching so much the papers are filled out in at least 5 different handwritings. Does anyone else find schools to be triggers for them as well? Just writing this is making us panicky Poor Emilee wanted to stay and play so badly.

We think you were very brave and strong to get through the registration!!
We find schools horrifying. Being in a classroom, even an empty one, makes us feel crushed. We feel sick with guilt, as if we've done something horribly wrong, and expect to be punished for it at any moment.
We're sorry you had such a difficult experience, but you did a great job working through it, and getting what needed to be done, done!!

That was extremely brave....I am in awe. I could not do it. I am thankful; that i do not have to.
Schools do not trigger me. I was bullied by students, but school was where I could get away from home and feel safer for a few hours. School is where I could take art and draw and not get in trouble for it. No grown ups hit me at school. I liked school.
But I have other places that trigger me and one of them is hospitals. I had to take my husband to the ER last weekend. It was very hard. He burned his eyes at work adn could not drive. I have panic when I go to town and worse when driving. It was very hard.
safe hugz and much support... You are very brave.

Yep, school hard for me too. Massive panic attack leaving son at school for first time at start of year. I only have to take him one day a week, my mum takes him other days because I can't handle it. I panic every morning he goes but at least I'm in my own space to calm down. I still don't know why. I try not to let my other smaller children see so they don't end up stressing about going to school when its their turn. I hope it to be a good experience for them and the school has been carefully chosen. All a bit yuk! Good luck to you.
