Hi,

I suffer from Bipolar II Rapid Cycling, and spend most of my time in a depressive episode.
I tend to depersonalise a lot (I took the definition off the sticky thread) and it really makes my life quite difficult - I cannot concentrate at work, I cannot remember things, driving can be dangerous as I forget routes that are normally straight forward for me.
I want to meet people with similar issues and how they handle it.
I find that once I've depersonalised, I am very lonely.

Hi sugahorse- I hope this isn't a stupid question but what does depersonalise mean?

Similar to derealisation - there's a sticky on top of this forum explaining the various disorders.

I just totally switch off, sometimes stare into space, hear people talking to me, but fail to register anything that was said. Like I'm in a bubble with time standing still and the world racing past me.

Hi sugahorse! We have DID, which is a different sort of beast we suppose, but we can relate to the way you described your feeling. We sometimes have all below the surface, and whoever is nearest can hear and be aware of surroundings sometimes, but be unable to respond to them.
We're sorry you're experiencing this. It is really difficult, especially at work. We struggle sometimes at work too.
