Ruminating is a part of what was happening for me before I got out of the stuckness. It is going over and over things in a worrying fashion. With the therapy of using OEI different than but similar to EMDR which is a therapy very much in the present and using my Cranial Stimulator (CES) unit I have been able to be more calm in order to relax at home and go through my day at work. I still take time to rest quietly at home or out in nature and to read or watch tv (something non aggressive) and might even meditate upon a thought or verse. With this more calm way of doing life I am not going to the obsessive rumination like before when I was stuck, where there was nothing to do with my mind but think about past abuses and ruminate on feelings of despair. Also, there is a saying in Alanon THINK, THINK, THINK and then ask someone to help or reading something to help or go to a therapist or whatever. So that is 3X's to focus (ruminate) on a thing and then time to look elsewhere.

I think that's is good advice. I saw a woman on a TV show one time-- she had been burned over something like 75% of her body-- her face is gone.... the interviewer asked her how she copes with such a hardship-- she said she allows herself 15 minutes a day to cry and feel sorry for herself -- then it is time for her to look elsewhere.
I think that's a great way to deal with things.

hats off to you Hunny

not rambling at all
