I guess we are all just riding the swell and trying not to get seasick along the way. When some are up, others are down, then it rolls again. The ones on top of the swell are up and are able to see the horizon. They remind the ones down in the trough who are disoriented, lost which way they are going, feeling overwhelmed by the waves on all sides, feel that they are sinking into the abyss, that the horizon is still there and there is a patch of blue sky on its way. Up and down through life we sail/swim/struggle/swim/sail. We all need the people at the apex to remind us that the horizon is there, is real, when we have spent too long in the trough and have forgotten what it looks like.
Thank you to those who offer support here. Although some of us with mental health issues may never reach land, its nice to know we are not alone trying to keep our head above water, surviving this ocean swell of life.

Great analogy~!

It is good to learn how to surf :-) Learning how to just allow the ocean to be the ocean while all the parts learn how to relax and not fight it - how to surrender internally because the tension just causes more pain - That is a big part of healing.
