tapping is like any other treatment. no matter what the mental disorder is, it can help some people and it cant help some people. tapping is done for all kinds of things and is prescribed for any mental disorder there is.

Isn't it called EMDR tapping above right eye. Did nothing for me but made a sore spot. For those that EMDR you have to do, no disrespect just saying what I'm feeling.

Trigger is for the youtube videos of th EMDR sessions below. its quite emotional and could trigger some.

no "tapping" is different than "EMDR"

Tapping is doing one thing - using your fingers you tap on special points on your body - top of the head, on your chin, on your neck....to alleviate stress, anxiety, pain,... the technical psychological term for it is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) basically all you do is tap yourself and focus on the tapping.

its also used in some yoga, massage therapy work

here is a couple links about Tapping -

http://www.eft-alive.com/eft-therapy.html

(youtube video is of a guy demonstrating)

EMDR involves alot more..

heres some links about EMDR -

http://www.emdr.com/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=khKhQkq08r4

(youtube video are demonstrating EMDR in 4 parts)

there is one part in here in the third EMDR video where some people who come to the crisis center where I work kind of got confused. the "client" is talking to a little girl inside.

before this frightens or freaks anyone here out - This woman was not switching into alters (DID) she was imagining herself as a little girl and imagining herself holding herself as a little girl and telling her everything is going to be ok. imaging your self now as an adult holding and talking to the little girl you used to be is actually a widely used therapy technique used with trauma survivors. its called getting in touch with your child within.

this is just one of many ways that EMDR is done. other mental health providers and locations may do it differently.
