all you can do is listen to yourself accept or not your own diagnosis's work in therapy or not on your problems /issues if it scares you to think of having "another person" in you then dont think of it that way. think of it like you have many parts of you.. and then learn about you and what all the other parts of you are like.. everyone has different parts of their self... example is your mother a cook, is your mother a housekeeper, is your mother a teacher (did she teach you how to get dressed, how to eat , how t make your bed and other motherly things mothers teach us), is your mother a funny person, is your mother someone who complains ... these are all parts of a person, everyone has different parts that make up the whole person they are. you do too. the difference is your parts are a bit more defined and may not be in touch with you and all the other parts of you. so how about this - from this day forth you dont have other "people' in you. you have other parts of you. ![]() |

I agree. You can't make your family/friends listen or accept you. what I did was I read up on DID, sent my family a flyer on it and let them decide what to do with it. It sounds like you are still pretty uncomfortable with your diagnosis, and that's okay. Can you work in therapy on accepting yourself wiht all your parts? That's how I see my "others", and seeing them as part of you may make it easier to accept their behavior. Wishing you strength.
