My younger dog (3yrs old) will sense me about to switch and he will start barking at me. It is the oddest thing (I did not train him to do that). But it helps me out tons!!

Now I got him as a puppy when my breakdown was happening. And one alter did not like him, so I think that is what he picks up on. But he barks no matter which alter is starting to come out (even the young ones who love dogs).

So now I wonder if anyone else has a dog like that?
Does anyone know if they train service dogs to do that for DID people?

we have both cats and dogs that do that.

animals have a keen sense of smell so they are able to notice things like when a persons blood sugar changes, and other body chemicals that make up a persons pheromones, sweat, and other body odors. Just like humans animals can also detect posture and facial changes that come with many emotions like excitement, anger, happiness, ... thats what makes them good for things like diabetes service animals, sight animals for the blind, hearing service animals, dog enforcement ...

for state licensing /certification they have to go through "schooling" but all animals have a natural instinct that come along with all their senses. I know someone who's ferret is her service animal because he has bonded with her in such a way that utilizes his natural instincts to inform her when her epileptic seizures are coming on.

our pets are such wonderful little beings.

My dog and I live alone together and she reacts to my parts differently. Sometimes the only way I can tell that I've switched is by paying attention to how she reacts to me. Some parts she is more apt to listening to, they are more dominant over her. So when she's not listening and not listening and not listening and usually she's right on top of it, I sit there and say "so either I have multiple parts, or my dog does". My dog will also not listen to other people period. Like my dad, or my brother, etc. She's a one owner dog. So for her to have an owner that has many parts is probably difficult. There is one part that I do have to separate her from. I typically put a door between the two when he's out, as he likes to say mean things to her and she likes to snap at him. It's for her protection and protection of the body in general. But any other part can roll around on the floor, pick her up, love on her. Do whatever. The little ones love her (and she loves and protects them). It took a lot of courage and responsibility for me to put a distance between her and the one who doesn't like her. He likes her, it's just she makes the rest of us happy, and he's an introject and anything that makes me happy, makes him unhappy.

I have a 3 year old dog who picks it up. I will be doing something and the next thing i know im somewhere else and he is barking at me. He barks any time i feel like a "switch" may be happening. He saved our lives literally once. I was watching tv wide awake and the next thing i know he is barking at me and im in the other room. His bark is what snapped me out of it and i heard the fire alarm going off, over an hour had passed. I guess someone got hungry and wanted spaghetti o's and started cooking but never turned the stove off or anything, all of the spaghetti os were black, the whole hour full of smoke, burner was on high. I dont understand that one yet, if they could start cooking it i dont know why they wouldnt respond to the fire alarm or anything... but the dog, any time lets say i find myself in the kitchen looking in the cabinets and dont know why or how im there, hes almost always there barking and growling. Animals have a sixth sense
