I am getting headaches 2-3 times a day. Is anyone with DID taking anything for them. I pop tylenol on a regular basis but it dawned on me how this may not be good since I took a full bottle of it MANY years ago. Do you take a Rx for them? They are not migraines because I have had them but not enough to take something on a regular basis for them. Thank you.

Im DID and have headaches. Medication does not help my headaches.

I have always had them so its just natural for me to notice they are there and wait them out by relaxing and listening to music and/ or ignore them completely like I always have.

My family has no idea when and how old I was when my headaches started.. They have always just been there and I rarely complained about them, most likely because I never knew any different. I thought everyone had headaches many times a day so It was just the way I was.

The headaches associated to my DID switches only last anywhere between 5 minutes to 15 minutes anyway so its not a big deal.

What helps me is that when a headache is there I take time to relax and take my time when doing things. I listen to music or practice my relaxation techniques.

Within about 15 minutes after I become aware again the headache is gone.

I don't let these headaches interfere with my day now that I know what they are. I never let them interfer with my day and activities before I knew what they were and knew that normal people dont get headaches. So there is no reason for me to let them interfer with my day and activities now that I have the diagnosis of DID. Having the diagnosis just helped me to understand what they were.

Through research and talking to professionals in the field of DID I have been told medication does not work because what is happening during "switches" is that the bodys chemicals, breathing rates, heart rate and so on change to that of what is contained in the memory that has been triggered. for example I am 43. when I get triggered into the memories of that which were stored in my unconscious level when I was 16. my body chemistry also changes from what the levels are now in the present 43 year old body to that of what my body chemiclas and so on were when I was 16. sometimes that is such a big change that my bodys reaction is a big headache while the chemicals in my brain and body return make to that of my biological age of 43 from those remembered levels of when I was 16. Once the body automatic systems - heart rate breathing and body chemicals are completely switched back to the biological age levels instead of the remembered past levels the headaches associated to DID disappear just as quickly as they come so professionals no longer try to medicate this kind of headache with tylenol and migraine meds and so on. they basically advise DID clients on how to take time to relax and let their bodys adjust back to the present levels.

I get bad headaches, but mine are tension from my messed up back. They have me on toradol when needed, but Im not sure it would help if it is not tension based.

I wonder though if it IS a DID thing, is there anything that could really be done?

Hi Cher

I get headaches too, but really related to stress. For example, if I have a tough T session or a hard day at work I will end up with a headache. I just take paracetomol when I need to, or rest if I can.
