After reading several posts in this section, I can see that I am not DID.

My doctor did Dx me with DDNOS. After reading a lot about that condition, I can see how I've had that as long as I can remember. I strongly recall moments where I was lying on a sofa (in a garage??) with a man as a very young girl, watching myself down below. Entering a hallway at night, to see the end of the hallway stretched out completely and it freaked me out!! I avoided going out of my room at night because I was so afraid of that always happening. Another symptom is often seeing and hearing myself speak and move ~ but it feels completely foreign to me. As though I am not actually participating. Other people look farther away still. Very strange and uncomfortable!

Where on Earth does this belong?

I do have temporal lobe epilepsy, but doctors have also done a lot of detailed testing with wires attached to my brain when these events occurred. No abnormal brain activity came up during some of the times ~ other times, it did! My pDoc does have extensive knowledge of the brain, so I don't doubt his Dx. I just don't know who can relate to issues like these.

Any tips to help guide me, please? Thank you for reading....

Hiya Shezbut.

I read your story. There are a lot of different aspects to being dissociative. The best person to talk to us your P'doc. Each person here is some where along the line of severity.

Yes it is scary when we see ourselves from above, or when our body goes off on its own tangent. Or different voices come out and you feel shoved to the back. I find it helpful to write things out in a journal to get them out of my head.

You also have epilepsy and I have no idea how that would impact on ddnos.

Please feel free to talk here. You are not alone.

You certainly do belong in this forum hon. It's not just for DID'ers and there are a lot of different kinds of dissociation.

From what I understand about epilepsy (and it's not a lot), many times there are auras that happen before having an episode(sometimes depending on the kind of seizures you have). They can be in the forum of smells & odors to staring off and not seeming to be coherent, or visual difficulties, or hearing sounds that are not happening etc etc. I can only imagine if this is what may be happening to you and how it may be affecting your dissociation. It may be hard to separate the two problems?

I don't know if I'm on track here or way off base, just some thoughts I had. Either way, I'm sorry you are having these difficulties.

Do a search on "derealization"
And "depersonalization"

They should shed some light of what you are experiencing.
I have similar things happen to me. As far back as I can remember.
A could weeks ago I got lost walking a route I follow almost daily. It only lasted a few minuets, but nothing was familiar. I didn't freak because I have weird experiences frequently. I wait and "reality test" honestly it wasn't as bad some of the others.
Sometimes they come with a funny sensation or taste on the back of my tongue.

Shezbut, what you are describing is disasociation. Like Jax said depersonalization and derealization. Happens to me too and I have some extra people in my head, but I like them all except one. And I get auras and migraines. I'm sorry you have epilepsy. Does it give you migraines too? My friend gets migraines after her seizures. Take care, and my T gave me ways to come back from disasociating. I can look for 3 red objects, 3 blue and 3 green and then listen for three sounds. Then I can feel my feet on the ground and gravity pulling me into my chair etc. then take a drink of water or something. Walking waround or laying catch helps me too or petting my dog or cat. I hope this helps you.
Thanks for this!
