our beautiful house is gone but 4 dogs, three cats, my wife and I and what we could fit in our car and van, are safe and sound. my wife and I are in a hotel in the middle of the working side of the city. The friend we were staying with has graciously offered their home to our pets for as long as needed, so we wont have to worry about them, they wont have to be cooped up in a kennel. So my wife and I are off apartment hunting. I will take some time for the insurance agent to assess the damage so that we can move on to finding another house along the shore...that is if one still exists. the shore is...words just dont fit the destruction, havoc the storm left behind.

For some reason or another, I thought you were in upper state, not along the shore.

I am so sorry that you lost your home, but I'm so glad that you, your wife and your "kids" are safe. I hope that when you get your insurance check, things will be looking up and cleanup along the shore will have been underway and you can maybe rebuild there if you so desire.

My heart goes out to you and all who were struck by this horrible storm.

Take good care!

I'm well aware of "amandalouise" as a PC member of great insight & knowledge. You are so generous and supportive. But I've never noticed where you live, so when the storm struck "you" didn't come to mind. I am shocked at how unaware I was of where these people I interact with daily or weekly actually live--other than in my computer.

So I just now am learning of your huge loss & how bravely you're coping. I hope your wife equals you in strength. Bless your friends for taking in your pets. I'll be thinking of you all.

lol I am ****from**** the mountains in upstate NY but I ****live*** in the City. When I first came here to psych central three yrs ago I got many posts and PMs from people asking me where I was, who I was and all that personal info that psych central rules advise us not to disclose for our own safety so I would tell those asking all different places and locations, then ity got real confusing because people thought when I posted about when an alter taking me off to hawaii for job, and when another alter became an exchange student in paris, that meant I was lying when I said I never lived outside the state of NY. people didnt understand how a host could never live outside of their state but yet an alter take over and move them to other places (dissociative fugue is the technical term for it) so then I felt that it was best to disclose my location so as to stop the insanity lol.

thanks everybody for your hugs and thoughts.
