Does anyone get these awful physical sensations in lower stomach that rise up the chest very rapidly? Sometimes they only last a second, but repeat over and over sometimes too. One of my alters gives them to me whenever she feels threatened or is triggered by anything "uncomfortable" such as things that come up in everyday conversation (relating to icky stuff). The sensations are getting so bad that I sometimes have to bend over myself in pain.

Yes........... horrid sensations. There are so many differing sensations for people who have DID. Sometimes it feels like I have a snake in my neck. If I fight the movements (spasms) it is very painful.
In my last session with my p'doc (with my permission) put his hands on my head to try a help me stop the spasms. then the muscles spasm moved into my shoulders when he touched that it moved into my jaw, then back into my neck. He could feel them move and told me where they were even though I felt it move each time. If you have the time when you get the sensations...... try not to fight them cos it makes the sensations worse. The sensations may still persist but hopefully they will settle down. Try to relax. Easy to say hard to do. |

Thanks for the suggestions! It didn't even occur to me that maybe the sensations could be controlled by medication. I am only on 2 medications right now, neither of which I believe target anxiety. I will speak with my pdoc about this.
Also, it is a good idea to try not to fight the sensations. It is true that fighting them makes them worse, definitely. Very good suggestion. Thank you ![]() |

Alters give me pain and other sensations when they're triggered too. It never occurred to me this could be anxiety, although I'm familiar with some panic attack symptoms.

Yeah, I've had panic & anxiety attacks. But these sensations are different. They are extremely quick & painful enough to make me cringe & bend my body. I hate it so much.

my suggestion contact your treatment providers they can tell you for sure whether you are having a panic anxiety attack even though it feels different then what you have had in the past, or they can tell you if there is some other mental or physical health problem going on and get you treated for it. |
