When people ask in here a lot of the time they get the response "That is not DID".

I just wanted to remind that this forum bears the name of Dissociative Disorders. That does not ONLY include DID. There are OTHER dissociative issues beside DID. I feel those are sometimes treated very harshly in here, like this section is only for those with DID.

Other dissociative issues includes for example: dissociative amnesia, depersonalization, DD-nos and a dissociative loss of identity.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for bringing this up. many times people get confused thinking someone is telling them they dont or do have DID.. in general and for clarity of my posts I want to say

if you read my past posts you will see the wording....

here where I live and work in NY, USA... before I state whether a symptom has to do with DID..

I am not saying the poster does or doesnt have DID.. just that here where I live in New York which is in the USA that symptom is or isnt DID.

Rereading I feel my post sounded a little snippy but I think it is because it was so short. It wasn't the tone I intended. Just to raise some awareness. So thanx peeps for listening instead of getting mad at me.

Thanksoo much for bringing this up!
I'll admit I have given the response "That doesn't sound like DID" before, and
I have completely forgotten that this forum is for all dissociative disorders! Thank you so much for this, I will keep this in mind the next time I read a post and respond!

Very true that there are many other types of dissociation and that is what this forum is for as well. At the same time, no one here can or should try to diagnose another member, nor should we question another's dx or what they are going through. The best we can do is discuss our own situations with which we have knowledge of and support a member with understanding, compassion and even suggestions as to how a member can find their way through or to a diagnosis.

With Care,
sabby
