Does anyone have an INternal Self Helper (ISH) that lets their T know what is going on in the system or guides their T in what is needed??

Does anyone have insiders who have psychic or mystic "powers" (not the right word, but can't think of one.

Good question w_i.

I didn't think that I had one for a long time. And T asked me when we first started, if I had one. ( had another T for awhile before this one ) But T has found that I do have one. Her name is Tina and T is now having her help him communicate with some of the others.

another name for internal self helpers is "protectors"
which are pieces of memories that the person is triggered into when danger is percieved or uncomfortable topics are being discussed.

I have many protectors and depending on the memory content, when I am triggered into them I can tell my therapist what is going on in my life.

I am a rapid switcher which means I switch into rerunning memory pieces very fast. When in the Mary memory piece I can tell my therapist about situations that have to do with something that I drew or something that I experienced during my court hearings, when in the memory pieces known as another memory piece I can tell about interactions with my parents, and so on down the line.

Some of the memory pieces known as mary have been integrated with other pieces of memorys based on the matching memories so when the mary memories are replaying I can say for example -

if some of the "Myself" memories have been integrated with the "mary" memories - while in the "mary" memories I can say "myself went to mcdonalds and and ate french fies."

But I cant tell my therapists things that are not a part of that piece of memory that is replaying. for example if the "mary" memories did not contain the shared (integrated) piece of memory about the french fries if my therapist asked me -Mary did Myself go to Mcdonalds to have french fries? I would either switch into the memory piece of Myself or I would say - I don't know because the question did not match with the mary memory content.

Some of the reading I've done on the ISH says that it may be internalized therapy or even a good spiritual core---like maybe there was some good sometime in the life----whatever it is, it has kept us from dying--literally. I think that she is what prevents us from destroying us. Even when Naomi acts out, Ajna seems to step in at the "moment of truth" and either tells T or somehow prevents that one deep fatal cut.
I am ever thankful for Ajna.

YES...... I would say that a lot of DID people have a protector and an overseer that is in charge of knowing it all.

Mine is much older than anyone else in the system, and hides the weak ones from the abuser ones..and she intervenes when I am close to self destruct if the cycle has not progressed to far..I know mine is not all powerful at a certain point..it moves past her abilities to regulate and intervene..but for the most part, and especially since I have been in therapy and she aligned herself with my Therapist..the self destructive cycles aren’t as bad..even though at times she calls him a “Twit” when he misinterprets her communication..

on the psychic end, yep. Sometimes I see people's self image instead of their physical body. For instance, once I was at a party and a woman who NEVER wore make up was like so overdone made up that she bordered on clown--way past hooker. I was dumbfounded and when dumbfounded I shut up/shut down/check out rather than check it out at the time. Oh well....

It took years for me to get over myself and ask someone else who was at the party if X had been made up that day. I was assured she had not had a speck of anything ut sunblock on.

Whew, dang, what had I been seeing. All afternoon, horribly made up was how I saw her, period end.

Years later, she had a sex change operation to become male in appearance. I guess I was seeing how she felt in the female body she had arrived in.... like a freak.

This incident gave me insight into why someone would cut their body up into another shape. . . very humbling for me, who can't imagine doing such a thing to myself.. . . .

This "seeing people's self image" thing has happened at other times as well, but, the above was the most dramatic, by far.

I have a part that is an Empath. She feels things from others. She absorbs their pain and sees their pain. If she reads on the forums she can visualize what is happening or has happened. It can make her physically sick and she has body reactions to what she reads and sees on the outside.
She hasn't yet learned to protect herself from this.
Sometimes it is hard to know what she has "absorbed" and what is really ours when she talks to T. Makes interesting sessions.

I think the general concensus is that the ISH is an aspect the DOES seem to know everything and is the one who can help the T understand the most. It doesn't have to be a protector at all... but a record keeper. Also, it is generally accepted that most nearly everyone with DID has some fashion of an ISH. Maybe the "protector" aspect of it is that this part might not allow the T to have information right off the bat.. not til the trust is built, etc. imo

I am appreciating all the responses. Whatever or whoever Ajna is, she is important to our system---as is everyone of course. It is interesting to know about others' systems also. Like hearing about other people's families. I think it helps me to understand and appreciate others here so much.
