no I did not notice at the moment of the dissociating (your word switching) and no I did not remember doing so.

after I became more grounded in the present I would sometimes notice something had happened like it would be a different day/time, or I would find evidence of what I did not remember getting/doing.

I have a lot of co consciousness and yes most of the time I know I switch. I can not control when I switch, something will trigger me and I switch. I most times am there watching what I am doing but I can not just stop what I am doing. Who ever is out has to agree to stop. There are also times when I have no memory of switching but I am not where I remember being when I return. This only happens for short periods of time like when I go to session or a movie. I sometimes don't remember seeing the movie or what happened in session. If I make an effort to remember it comes to me in small bits but not all of it. It is better now than it used to be.

Sometimes I am completely unaware that I have switched and I will only discover it because of things I did while I was whoever after I switch back. When it happens like this I have no memory of events.

Other times I am in crisis/triggered and I can feel it as it begins to happen and I become a spectator. Memory becomes fragmented or nonexistent.
