sometimes yes and sometimes no, it all depended upon what was causing me to have my depersonalization/derealization symptoms.

Yes, I did. I was so desperate that I took the anxiety medication first just to keep from having panic attacks. Often my panic attacks were preceded by feelings of derealization. The anxiety medication brought me some relief but it wasn't until I finally agreed to take the anti depressant that my mind was able to slow down and I wasn't constantly being triggered. I take a small dosage but I take it like I am supposed to and it helps a lot. I don't think I would have been able to process the diagnosis without it. The medication seems to give me time to sort things out. And that is all I need.

Thanks. Right now i'm taking lexapro, but it has not helped with the derealization. Hopefully I can get some help because it is really taking a toll on me.

I took meds for my OCD, but if its for depersonalisation or DID I would prefer not to take it, as the Seroxat left me with severe side effects and that was a decade ago. Not complaining but memory has been fried ( I use to remember 40 phone numbers etc) and concerntration patchy, but Im going to look into some of the better ones if I ever move out of this place. At least most of the OCD has gone, but took my memory with it and I was foggy and depersonalised but that was me and everyone is different, so research your meds.

Yeah my memory was terrible when I first had dp/dr. I could not remember conversations I had with people and couldn't do simple tasks. I have gotten allot better without medication so i'm confused if I should try to see if my brain can adapt and get better on its own or if I need medication to give it a jump start. I just don't know, its scary because it's my mind and I don't want to play with it.

I don't see how meds could help with it. I have the same thing with forgetting things but it's not like it's a "chemical imbalance" it's just a habit, a coping skill. We have to learn to undo it not cover it up with drugs. just sayin.
