Does anyone have parts that lie. That when asked a question will say something other than what they believe or understand? I have told lies in my life for one reason or another but when my t asks a part a question they say what is on their mind. They don't make stuff up. Or they just don't answer. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Some of my parts were quite prolific liars. One in particular I am thinking of had very little regard for other people and thought nothing of telling bald faced lies to them - often simply for her own amusement. Some lied as necessary to protect the system. Others never lied.

I had protector alters that told lies. one in particular was called an introject. thats a type of alter that can be had with any mental or physical health problem. this alter was not part of my DID but rather my other mental and physical health problems.where they take on the role of the abuser. this alter would tell me lies about myself, tell others lies about me to push other way from me. it was this alters job, purpose, reason for being to tell me and others lies about me. I also had an introject that was part of my having DID who in order to protect the secrets would tell conflicting lies so treatment providers would not know the truth...

one thing we now know about alters with DID is that they always have a job, purpose, reason for being,,in short a definative way of being. if their job, purpose reason for being is to tell lies they will, if their job, purpose, reason for being (their behavior, belief system, what makes us who they are) is for being honest they will be honest.

that does not mean it does not happen. there are many different types of altered personality states....ego states, introjects, adult, parent, child, .....what defines what happens is the type of altered state of mind (personality ) they are...

my suggestion if this continues to concern you talk with your treatment providers, they will explain to you the type of alter that is doing this and why.

Children in general will say yes more than no to most questions particularly if they don't understand the question or are frightened of the consequences of answering truthfully.

I have two that lie to protect themselves from being hurt. Our t totally lnows it and always knows when they are lying

Yes. One of my alters lies to me all the time. Always for some reason that basically translates to maintaining her version of "order".
