i hope this is ok for an intro thread. if there was an area i did not see it.

i am a 35 year old woman finally trying to heal the trauma of my childhood and teen years. I have fairly recently come to realize the reason i cannot remember about 70% of my life is because of dissociation.

I am attempting to learn to work WITH, and not against, the way my psyche has learned to cope. I am a mom of young kids and an artist. I am using my art to help in my recovery.

i will keep this short-thank you for reading this and i look forward to reading around the forums!

hi seekingthemoon
I think doc john normally sends a welcome with a link to new member introductions for you to do you intro but this is fine as well. I think you will find it in your private messages which you can access at the top right of yur screen under your screen name. you will get more welcomes introducing yourself there. but I will welcome you here. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

Welcome!

may I ask what kind of art you make?
I am also an 'artist' ( if I may say that about myself) my art helps me in my heelings process.

Hope you'll find heer what you're looking for.

Hi Seekingthemoon,

Welcome to PC! I'm 50 years old, a writer, and also working on healing from childhood issues. I dissociate but don't actually "lose time." I do, however, have big gaps in my memory of childhood. Also, when I get stressed out, I seem to "go inside" and then I have trouble noticing what's going on externally and get very forgetful. It's nice to have creative folks here. Looking forward to getting to know you.
