Claritytoo, I do not know if this is related to DID, but my friend had this for many years. She finally went to a specialist. It turned out the hairs inside the ear canal were dry. The doctor recommended a few drops of mineral oil. The ringing completely disappeared!

Here in NY (the one in the USA as opposed to other locations) ringing in the ears is called tinnitus. its a physical health issue and can be a symptom of ear infections, dehydration, medication over dosage, drugs and alcohol can also cause a persons ears to ring. as can getting hit in the ears cvausing perforated eardrums/ nerve damage to the ears.

I have this problem frequently and when I checked it out medical doctors, mental health treatment providers and audiologists, turns out there is no DID diagnostics nor Dissociation symptoms associated with tinnitus /ringing in the ears.

my suggestion contact your medical doctor, they can evaluate whether you are getting an ear infection or other ear related problems, or whether your medications need to be changed/adjusted or any other causes for the tinnitus (ringing in your ears)
Thanks for this!

Thanks everyone for responding. I always have the ringing in my ears. Certain parts have it louder than others. Most times I can ignore it. Thanks again.

I have ringing in my ears which is lessened by anti psychotics. I call it White Noise, like an untuned radio station or untuned television station. But thats just me.

I've had constant ringing in my ears for months now. It's gotten to the point where I can just ignore it. Never thought to ask my DR about it. Guess I'll ask him when I see him next week.
