I am in a lot of pain today. But it's getting better.
For the past two weeks, I've been dealing with a lot of pain from existential crisis and recently, I realized it was DP/DR. I haven't eaten very much at all, and I fear even being awake. My own existence terrifies me. And I know why. I've dealt with so much death this year. I need to learn to cope with it or I'll never get out of this. I need to learn to stop fearing it, and the rest of it will go away. I'm just sort of jarred and scared today. I hate having this, but it's only temporary. |

It is good that you know the feelings will not last for ever. What has you t said. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you. I haven't talked to my therapist about this quite yet. I have bothered her plenty but I only realized what this was just recently. She didn't know what an existential crisis was, but I hope she knows what DP/DR is.

example here in NY we are taught this is a normal thing called ...mid life crisis...a stage of life every human being goes through where they question their life and their existence, whether the path they chose for their self is worth it. Another example here in NY Existential crisis is part of depression not depersionalization/derealization disorder. here is where you can read about what is now considered depersonalization/derealization disorder here in america according to the new diagnostic criteria that america now goes by for this disorder http://forums.psychcentral.com/disso...s-dsm-5-a.html Im not saying your problem doesnt exist the way you feel it, just that maybe your treatment providers definition of the term you are using is different then how you use it. suggestion maybe you can print off your post and take it to your treatment provider as a starting point for discussing what existential crisis means to you vs how your treatment provider is trying to work with you. maybe this way you both will be able to get on the same page, and find something that will help you feel better.... here in NY the treatment for existential crisis is the same as treatment for depression...talk therapy, antidepressants and group therapy sometimes can also help. |
