I've only met new T twice. We don't like her but K keeps going back. Since second visit (where t TOLD us our experience rather than hearing us and told us what is and isn't true in our own experience - hello, we've been dx-ed since 2006) things are getting worse in the system. more harm, more not so smart choices. tempted to quit T (all T's) for a while.
anyone else experience that?

Sorry sweety....bail. Obviously yall don't click. I'm sorry. Gotta try again. Good luck!

I feel the same way about my pdoc, but he's a med machine and seen me at my worst, so he'll make a good ref for disability so I'm gonna keep him.

kiya I know a lot of people that get frustrated because their treatment providers are telling them their diagnosis is different or not what the patient thought it was.... it is because the diagnostics have changed from when the person was diagnosed....

example you stated you were diagnosed in 2006. well the changes in diagnostics happened in 2013. what that means is every mental disorder has new diagnostic criteria. if you now do not fit what the present diagnostics are your treatment provider can not legally accept your past diagnosis. they have to go according to what the new standards are.

my suggestion is talk with your treatment provider, they can show you in the DSM 5 which mental disorders you now fit according to the new standards. Im sorry that you and your system have to make this change but your treatment provider can get into legal trouble if she does not change your diagnostics to the present standards and treat you according to the present treatment options set down by the American Psychiatric Association.
Thanks for this!

really leaning toward quitting her. Giving her one more chance, but I don't see a lot changing
thanks for the response!

Do you think quitting t is something that will help or lead to more problems? When I started to go to the t I have now I had a few who really didn't like her and didn't want to go to therapy. There are still some that don't like her. But we kept going because we hadn't been diagnosed yet and needed stability. Having to show up to her office once a week made us function in the world. We had to be somewhere. One of us would get us going and another would drive us there. Sometimes we were so angry to be there, some of us were annoyed to be there, some of the younger ones wanted to be there. So we just kept going. I didn't agree with some of the ways she did therapy so I told her. She wasn't always happy to hear what I had to say but it's not my job to make her happy. It is my job to help myself and see if we can have a safe and peaceful life. So maybe you can just tell your t straight out what you think about her approach. I know my t doesn't always agree with how I want therapy to go but she allows me my space. But it took her time to do that. I think therapist often learn right along with the patients.. Hope things work out.
Thanks for this!

I've tried a lot of different therapists over the years and through several relocations. Sometimes I know at the 1st meeting that our personalities don't click and that's that. Sometimes I'm unsure, and try a few times. One I went to twice, and then quit. The one I have now I first thought was not going to work out, but I kept going off and on and it ended up being a good, long-term relationship. At this moment, however, I am wondering if she is no longer right for me. I do like her, but I think I need a different perspective. There's nothing wrong with quitting a T and moving on. I'd say you're on the right track. It sounds like you're keeping your eyes and ears open and doing what's best for you. Good for you, and good luck!
Thanks for this!

yeah - I've been doing the same over the last... well since April. Here 4 times, there once, here 2 times, there another 4 times.... 8 times... one time and RUN.....
Now I am sort of "stable" with a gal, but she keeps trying to place me elsewhere but really cares about me.... it's hard.....

Because she doesn't have enough skill to really treat DID and wants the best for me. I don't care anymore (or care too much). I can't keep searching for Ts- going to have a nervous breakdown.

Least she is being honest about being out of her depth. Maybe you can stick with her until you find a specialist who knows what they are doing. (((hugs))) if you need them.
