Until I read something the other day, I never associated taking pictures as the same as the mirror thing which I also hate. You cannot find a picture of this body except on the drivers license, and one or two more places. Mug shots don't count. Those are kind of mandatory, and I don't get to look at it. I hated school pictures, wedding pictures, any pictures because there is no connect.

Just an interesting tidbit to me that I had.

Thanks for sharing this. I hate pictures of myself too. If one comes out badly I pretty much decide that's how I always look, plus pictures remove from us our personalities. I like taking pictures of others but not being in them.

I definitely understand! I hate having pictures made of me personally. The photograph never looks like any of us thinks we look. So we dont look in the mirror either.
Thanks for this!

Same here. I have pictures of my kids but I am not in any. One alter had gone through the house took down all pictures ( with the body in them) and threw them out. Another alter had taken family pictures of siblings and parents and threw those out. One made a small collage of I guess her favorite pictures and keeps in in the closet. Then one alter made a scrap book for kids to have with pictures of the body with them to have but we don't look at it. A collage of pictures with my kids and dogs that passed away was made and they wrote kids names the dogs names and has Family written across the top. My son noticed and pointed out that the collage is saying that our family is a dog that passed away another we had to give away and him and his brother with no mom. He understands I don't like to see pictures of myself and had gone through a out three months where pictures where causing a lot of distress and crisis.

Awww I'm sorry. I so want to but it's just so not right. The drivers license picture is so like, yeah, that's where we're at. Gag.

At least the clerks look at it when they card us and say cool.

i really do not like being in pictures. they make me very uncomfortable. it has more to do with for that moment having the focus on me, having to fake a smile, etc., and i am also very self conscious about how i look. even though digital cameras now allow you to delete and retake right away, some people don't seem to know that lol i always check pictures to make sure they look okay or ask someone to not share it if it has me in it and i don't like it because it is embarrassing for me (and sometimes just creates a lot of anxiety).

i have body dysmorphia to a degree, so i wonder if for me that is why i dislike pictures of myself so much. and mirrors, well, how i look changes and how i think i look changes...even if it's always 'me'. my perception of 'looking pretty' or not changes too.
