i just realized that instead of wondering how one alter can be an addict while the rest aren't... or how one can have OCD and the others not... or bipolar or anything like that
(which had been boggling my mind and confusing me)
i realized it's easier to conceptualize it as whenever a craving surfaces... or whenever symptoms of whatever MI surfaces... it triggers out the alter that handles it
Thanks for this!

Possibly...though not always for me. No trigger and someone would drink or cut. Then triggers happen and no drinking or cutting has happened.
Thanks for this!

sounds about right for us too - or at least the thinking would be there.... 22 wants to drink or 10 wants to cut, even if they don't act.... but like sometimes 22 will pour a drink, but I'll still be too much in front and i'll take a sip and go Ugh! How can you drink this??? I feel 22's disappointment as I put it back in the fridge for her later. she was VERY glad to come home to it today after spending time with my mother... tasted great!
