I have dissociative amnesia and my psychiatrist said that it was a symptom of schizophrenia.

for some people yes dissociative amnesia is part of their schizophrenia. dissociative amnesia can come from many different things and with many different problems.

I don't think that it is a symptom of my schizophrenia.
Thanks for this!

I'm sorry, I'm no expert, but when the experts speak, you don't believe what they are saying.

Is there something else that you are hoping it to be? I mean, what do you think?

Just asking sweety.

I think it is because of an abortion my ex-boyfriend forced me to have. Then, the community mental health center was attempting to take my son from me because I was a single mom. Also, the abuse by my son's dad, etc.

Omg, I'm so sorry. Trauma is the root cause of dissociation, as far as I know. I'm a believer that other versions of MI exasperates (?) other diagnosis. Like my bipolar made things worse then normal which altered my perception of normality, like it made bad even worse. At least that's what I hope to believe happened.

I don't know, but can't see why not. With the brain firing this way and that, like it can keep track of all the short circuits. I can't even keep track of my mind!
