I'm bipolar and have anxiety issues, panic attacks, touch of PTSD.
Someone in the bipolar forum related a symptom that I've been experiencing for awhile. This person said their pdoc loosely referenced maybe a possibility of some type of dissociative disorder. Example... My boss that I have anxiety issues with gives me three steps to follow in an email. I read the email..little later I was concerned because I don't remember doing what he asked. I vaguely remember step 1, but when asked later what happened, all I could respond with was "I forgot", yet I read the email. I've come out of meetings not remembering what I was even told to do. Sometimes my wife adamantly tells me that ABC happened, I don't recall it at all. She's even said occasionally when I do remember its like I have it wrong or skewed to the negative. I swear there are pieces of my life that I don't remember. In the other hand, I'll ask several times what so and so needed me to do, it comes off as forgetful or not paying attention. Is anything here sounding familiar to any of you? Thank you... bipolar rapid cycling - lamitcal 300mg panic attacks - clonazepam 4mg depression/generalized anxiety - lexapro 10mg add - adderall 55mg i'm the logic to the screw up to the broken one who fixed it

Yep. That sounds familiar to me, and dissociation can be a cause.

could be dissociation... or fugue states... or something even medically related in the brain... or the 'lens' with which you grew up ("seeing things negatively that weren't")... the mind is so complicated (fascinating, when it's not our own....)

there are several factors for me that can cause me to forget things...stress, anxiety, depression, dehydration, not eating or sleeping enough, etc. sometimes it can be dissociation for me, but i can generally figure out what the cause is if i pay attention to how i am feeling around the time i notice it. sometimes medication can also cause a person to forget things due to side effects. so, there are any number of things that could be a reason for it.

Hi slave2010...welcome to PC!
It does sound familiar here, but testing needs to be done. I've been accused of having the worlds worse memory. |

My doctor doesn't care. She went through all her training to write my prescriptions. I don't like her, she looks at me like I'm crazy or something. I'll never talk to her again. The others can all they want.
Really need a therapist to talk too. |
