Hi, there.

We've been triggered on several occasions. This is how it was usually handled:

In a work setting:

If I was triggered at work, then my Protector will take over immediately. Then, our Gate Keeper will direct whoever is required to complete my job and keep us appearing normal, whilst our Protector shields us from the memories.

At home:

I'm more likely to be triggered at home. Usually when that happens, my Protector takes over, and once shielded from the memories, we sleep. After a good sleep, someone else takes over until I am ready to take control. I've come to rely on that sleep after being triggered. It prevents us from doing something stupid, and it helps put the memories back into the vault.

Things are different this time. My Protector was still there to defend me, and try to shield us, but we haven't slept at all. Today is Sunday. It is approximately 4am. We were triggered yesterday (Saturday, at about 10:30a.m). We haven't slept since yesterday. I've tried three times, now. Each time I close my eyes, I'm overcome by flashbacks that are much worse than when awake. And we can't get ourselves to relax. It's like they're on guard.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to be asking here...

Their reaction is different this time around. None of them will tell me why.

Do your alters' reactions change based on the type or intensity of triggers?

Oh yes indeed Zee when we have past memories of traumatic events I only can sleep two hours at a time. It really freaking sucks, wake up in panic mode, and there is so many emotions that it's hard to know what to do. I do take medication for sleep but sometimes it just doesn't work. You just have to work through it. Try to be demanding and don't let them completely take over. I know it's difficult, but you have to sleep eventually, stay positive Zee.

Hey, IBS. Yip. That's what we've got: less than two hours sleep, followed by this overwhelming feeling of fear.

We'll stay positive, and work through today.

Thank you, for sharing.
