My wife was asking me if there's any resources, support groups, or whatever where SHE can go for support?

Does anyone know? She is aware of my past trauma (most of it), my Dx, and all that goes with it, but is seeking some support of her own and has questions I'm unable to answer.

Not really, all I know is alanon for addictions and stuff. Have you tried googling for around where you live, like National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI)? They have a website.

I was just looking at it. They have family support groups, I just might join and go.

NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness | NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness

They don't list anything for Canada, unfortunately. I haven't found anything locally.

Heck, there's only about 4 therapists in all of Alberta who even seem to have a decent knowledge of DID/MPD ... and there's very little in support for family, it would seem.

Oh, most of it will have to be online I reckon. Wasn't aware of the Canadian thing. My bad.

I'll check online, see if we can google up some resources. And no worries, different countries have differing resources, I'm sure

There are plenty of books written by those with DID that would give insight, imo. Depending upon what trauma "caused" the DID, there are more professional books for the layman that she could read as well...such as Courage to Heal for those with childhood abuse issues... (which I would not recommend for a patient to read on his own, without T guidance).

As I understand it, 'Courage to Heal' is more for women than men, is that correct?

I'm a 50-year old male survivor - so I'm not sure how much it would apply to me.
