Hello...I'm 20 years old and I'm not sure if I have DID or not...I do know I have depersonlization and derelization...
I haven't seen a doctor for it but based on the way I feel and what I've read I believe I have it I've had DP and DR since I was a little girl But that's not what I'm asking...what I want to know is if this sounds like DID, I feel as though i'm two people, since I was a young I always heard this voice in my head, it sounded just like me but wasn't she doesn't have a name...she just tells me what to do all the time.. Telling me when to sleep, and when to eat and what to say...she threatens to take over my body if I don't or kill my family I'm scared to go to sleep I'm scared she may take over my body I believe this has happen before when I was in school people would say that I would say strange things to them...send them strange emails... Sometimes I remember things in a dream like state...wondering if it really happen or if I just dreamt it.. It hasn't happen in a few years now(not that I know of anyway.) I'm not sure if I'm just sleep walking or what...I remember one night I grabbed my phone from out the other room and headed back to my room I remember her voice telling me just a little bit further you can make it etc... The next day the phone wasn't in my room Sorry I know I'm not making much sense I'm just trying to put this all together I can't see a doctor right now, I don't have any money and can't find a job I live with my grandmother at the moment....I've tried to speak to her about this ask her if she noticed me switching or acting like a different person She refuses to believe in DID, I don't have any friends so please don't suggest that I've been to a lot of websites who only read half my post then give advice even though I say I have no money friends etc ![]() |

so my first suggestion is contact your social services department. they will be able to help you with the application for your states medicaid insurance plan that best fits your needs. my second suggestion is to relax and breath, DID is not the only medical \mental problem where people can ....feel....like they are two different people... for some people its completely normal for others it can be any number of medical or mental problems. the present diagnostics for DID do not include ....feeling..... like two different people, or hearing threatening voices (Im guessing because that symptom can be normal or any other mental\physical health problem. for example some people with schizophrenia have this same problems not saying you are schizophrenic just using that mental disorder as an example of symptoms.) you can read the diagnostics for DID in my link at the bottom of my post but short version you have to have two or more alternate personalities (some locations call this identities) that affect every aspect of your life. these alternate personalities are a very special kind, DID is also having a memory problems, and the problems are not caused because of things like religion, race\cultural practices, the problems dont happen because of needing an invisible friend, drugs alcohol or other medical/mental problems. and having these alters cant be better explained by other problems. the info in my link does not include the 5 pages that goes into more detail about the mental disorder, diagnostics and all that. so to find out more info beyond whats in my link you will need to go to your nearest library and ask for the book in the reference department. my standard reply to anyone asking whether what they are going through is DID, is that we can not tell you that only a treatment provider in your off the computer location can do that... my suggestion is if you feel you may have a mental disorder the best thing you can do is contact social services, get on an insurance plan and then contact a mental health treatment provider that is listed in the insurance plans member booklet or some states are automatically assigning a treatment provider when you sign up for the medicaid insurance plan. this way you will know for sure whether what you are going through is related to your already existing mental/medical problems or is something else including whether its DID or not. |

Hi ArtemisSoifa....welcome to PC!
![]() I couldn't tell you if it was or weren't- only a pro can say, but it is interesting those things that you've described of yourself concerning your "other". In my case, I don't really "feel" like another person, I feel them take over and then my conscious becomes the next other up which is then theirs. There might be other DIDers that can identify, but I don't know in my experiences. We others all have intelligent conversations, only our abuser alters do the threatening yelling, they aren't nice but we've asked them to stop and they have. There is another condition called Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD) where one can have alters that are not as fully developed as DID. I don't know what to say girl, but I'd get it checked out under the hood. I'd start with the easy stuff like psychosis and work my way down from there! Good luck! ![]() |
