I used to have sessions twice a week. that changed, but I read in the literature that twice a week is recommended. wondering what others are doing?

i never went twice a week for trauma/dissociation, etc. related things. i did for other things though.

i currently just go every months as i don't feel like all of me is ready to dive into things without causing me to destabilize...and if that happened, i could potentially lose what i have built up so far and may not be able to work (from home) which would also mean not enough money to pay for things, and i own my own place and have no one else to pay for things except myself.

i think it really depends on what you feel is beneficial for you.

Depends on the week, but usually at least 3 times, for a couple hours each.next week t and i will probably talk every day. There have been times when we didnt have time to talk for 2-3 weeks at all.

here in the USA there is no standard recommendation of how often a person must be in therapy (unless of course a person is court mandated, in which case the court sets the standards based on that persons reason for being before the court)

short version here in the USA everyone is in treatment based upon what their own problems require, some are in therapy once a week some twice a week, some monthly, some every 6 months, some yearly. and yes some people go more often if they are in treatment programs like partial (half day at a treatment facility working on many areas /many issues) others need inpatient care because they need more treatment than out patient can offer them.

my suggestion is contact your treatment provider, they will help you to develop your treatment plans that best fits you, including how often you are in therapy sessions.

I currently see 3 therapists, and one of them is twice a week. So 4 sessions in total each week. At one point I was up to 8 hours per week for DID.

great idea huh but I have discovered the reality of having a live in treatment provider is not as interesting in appeal for me. I mean one stay in a mental health unit and that can show a person what it would be like to have their treatment provider available to them right there on location 24/7. I am soooo sooo glad my treatment provider does not live with me. it would be like being inpatient all over again.

I used to have the same thing. It worked better than the 45 min. It gave me time to calm down and not leave session in a confused and sometimes angry state. Only a few of us drive so sometimes we would have to sit or lay down in the car before the driver was ready. I didn't like that too much. Some times the not so good drivers would drive until something would happen to scare us. Than the good drivers would push in. 45 min sessions were too short

I see my psychiatrist every two weeks. Hoping I can cut back to once a month, when I prove to be more stable.
