welcome. I wasnt sure if I recognized your name so I went back and read some of your past posts. I see that the last time you posted you mentioned you were 18 days with no drinking alcohol. hows that going?

I also see your treatment providers and hospital staff have been playing around with your medications.

going through these things can cause a person to feel extremely confused, and dissociated like symptoms.

I also see you have anxiety and depression, those too carry dissociative symptoms.

my point...its no wonder you are feeling your derealization depersonalization problems. I would be too.

my suggestion contact your treatment providers. maybe they can tweek your meds just a bit more to help you stabilize. maybe they can help you with your sobriety symptoms so that you will feel better as you continue to forgo the drinking alcohol.

and congrats on your 18 days sober. you are half way there to your 30 day sobriety chip (its an AA thing where when an alcoholics anonymous member reaches certain mile stones like 30 days sober they get a commemorative disk about the size of a poker chip to show that they have reached that point with out having a drink of alcohol) As you continue to remain sober your derealization\depersonalization symptoms associated with this will most likely subside. good luck and keep up the great work.

Mines off the scale right now. But Im ok with that, due to the situation Im in at the moment. I don't really want to feel anything, and so watching the world from inside this bubble is ok with me. Its definitely safer than to experience the alternative at the moment. I don't have much in the way of coping strategies for this Im afraid.

Are you struggling?

Hi and welcome Krinkle!

Thank God mine comes and goes in due time, like not stuck that way. I'm usually triggered by stress, anxiety, or over sensory stimulation. Basic coping methods help me ground out of them moments. If I'm doing nothing, I just sit and watch everything taking the weirdness in till I've had enough. When I'm busy though, it's very debilitating.

How is it for you?

Most of the time my derealization comes on quick. Suddenly I will be not part of the world. It can happen when I am driving or other in public places. I don't know what triggers it. It is frighting even though now I know what it is. What helps is that I remind myself that I have experienced this before and everything was fine. That usually pops me back into the world. Depersonlization is different. It creeps in and settles down over me usually when I am alone. It stays as long as it wants. I am usually confused by it and unable to realize what is happening until it begins to subside. It is a very heavy bottomless feeling.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your replys ☺. I've still been sober, since Dec 23. It's much easier to live without substances fing with my head.
My Derealization is better then it was five months ago. When it first started I had panic attacks , anxiety, and insomnia with it. I also felt like gravity was going to let go. Now it's just like thoughts without the physical sensations.
Thanks for this!

It feels like a bubble descends on me and I get engulfed in it. Sometimes it's fun to watch. Sometimes it's shocking causing a blood pressure spike.
