Foe the past few weeks I have been waking up feeling severely depersonalized. I've experienced depersonalization before. I feel it sometimes when I have panic attacks or when I smoke pot. It usually goes away after a few hours though. I have no idea why just about every morning (with maybe a few days in between without it happening) I have been waking up to feel it. In had a panic attack one time when waking up to it. It was very disturbing. I'll just wake up and feel like I'm in a totally different body. Nothing feels real. It looks like a 2D screen or something. Sometimes I just try and ignore it. Other times I get really disturbed. Now, it usually does go away after a few minutes. Usually 15 minutes I feel it and then it just goes away. I really don't know why this is happening. Do dreams perhaps have something to do with it?

suggestion if smoking pot is making you feel this way you might want to think about quitting the smoking pot. kind of like when smoking cigarettes causes someone to have problems the fix is to stop smoking. dreaming (the brains natural job of processing things)...in general.... doesnt usually cause a person to have depersonalization, in the grand scheme of things if this did happen then every human being would wake up every single time feeling numb, spaced out and such (depersonalization symptoms) that said on rare occasions if someone dreams about something traumatic to them, waking up startled/ anxious and remembering that traumatic dream can cause someone to feel numb, spaced out and disconnected. my suggestion for this is if this continues to bother you, you might want to talk with your or a treatment provider. there are some great medications and sleep studies that can help diagnose any sleep related problems even those sleep problems that may have dissociative symptoms, so that you will soon be feeling better. |
